Chameleon Holidays can assist you with all your self–drive needs from hiring the correct (and most suitable) vehicle for your adventure, to itinerary planning, suggesting the best accommodation places or campsites, the must–see spots to the lessor–known gems. It can also prove to be one of the best ways to explore as well as the most cost–effective.

Namibia is an excellent self–drive destination and one of the most affordable ways to explore the country with its range of 5* boutique style lodges, to campsites and ideal for those who want a little more independence. The road network is good, well sign–posted and light traffic. A tour consultant will be on hand on your arrival to welcome you into Windhoek and to go through your entire itinerary including the best roads to travel, with a welcome pack containing a map with suggested route, local phone card, a small guide book and all you need to make your trip straight forward.

Botswana: Self–driving in Botswana can be adventurous on the sandy tracks, but there are plenty of tar–roads linking the main tourist destinations and making it accessible to all, from the Okavango Delta, to the pans and Chobe National Park, all of which offer great game–viewing experiences. There is a range of accommodation establishments and at Chameleon we can offer assistance in route planning, making bookings. Perhaps combine Botswana with Namibia or cross the border to Victoria Falls.

South Africa: A superb and cost–effective self–driving destination with a wealth of good–value accommodation on tar roads. The Garden Route near Cape Town is one of the most beautiful routes in the world, and can be combined with game viewing in Addo Elephant Park. Alternatively take in Kruger National Park – South Africa’s renowned Game Reserve. Self–driving in South Africa is an easy way to explore the country.
