Hiking Safaris

For the keen walker, countries including Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia offer some great walking tours but due to the soaring temperatures (and sometimes rainy conditions) these are generally only offered during winter months. Shorter 2/3day tours such as the lovely Tok Tokkie Trail in the Namib Desert is an exception and runs most of the year, perfect to include in a private-guided or self-drive tour. Walking safaris are incredibly rewarding and very different from vehicle safaris when your knowledgeable and experienced guide takes pleasure in pointing out flora and fauna including the smaller creatures such as dung beetles, dune-rolling spiders and identifying spoor, giving you a greater understanding of the unique balance of nature as your senses come to life. There’s nothing quite like it.
