07 Day Botswana Green Desert Okavango Delta & Chobe Fly–In Safari

Overview

To many, the Okavango Delta is one of the many reasons to visit Botswana. This trip takes you into the heart of the Delta experiencing two camps then onwards to the famous Chobe National Park where huge herds of elephant, buffalo, and other water dependent game is to be found and a close–up experience on a boat is a must. Trip can be run in reverse for same price starting in Kasane and finishing in Maun.  the Delta is slap bang in the centre of Southern Africa’s driest and flattest arid region. The water of the Okavango River travels southeast for months starting in the Angolan highlands in summer and then squeezed through geological fault lines near the Caprivi Strip, spreading out to form this amazing ecosystem and one of the best wildlife experiences in the world. )

Itinerary

Days 1&2 Moremi Crossing, or Gunn’s Camp, Okavango Delta

Enjoy a light aircraft transfer over the Delta, taking in the magnificence of the winding, papyrus fringed channels that make up one of the world’s greatest wetland wonders. You will be able to see some of Africa’s most celebrated animals from a bird’s eyes view 500 FT above the ground; the Okavango is an immense river that never meets the sea. Instead, its crystal–clear waters spread across the Kalahari Desert, forming Africa’s largest wetland phenomenon. The Okavango Delta is an abundant oasis amid the vast plains and pans of the desert that covers most of Southern Africa. Your first two nights are spent overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering Moremi Game Reserve enjoying boat cruises and mokoro excursions gliding silently through channels and watching game at eye level.

Days 3&4 Mma or Rra Dinare, Okavango Delta

A further scenic flight to Mma or Rra DInare gives you a further chance to explore the magical Okavango Delta – here, tall palm islands, dry open plains, meandering channels and lush floodplains of the Okavango ensure memorable game drives, mokoros and nature walks with the chance to see nature close–up in this unique environment. Both Mma and Rra Dinare are new camps using 100% eco–friendly technology with solar/water efficiency – perfect for environmentally conscious travellers. The camps are located on a private concession by the Gumare River and excellent game–viewing is considered "the norm" year round irrespective of the season!

Days 5&6 Chobe Safari Lodge or Chobe Bush Lodge, Kasane

Your flight today takes you into one of the most prolific wildlife areas in Africa and offers extensive game viewing from water and land – Chobe National Park. The lodge borders the park itself and the Chobe River flows in front of the lodge attracting game such as elephant, hippo and buffalo. Activities include game drives and a boat cruise within this stunning, flagship park – note the riverfront is a popular location
