Safari Itinerary

Day 1 Chameleon Guesthouse & Backpackers, Windhoek
Upon arrival in Windhoek collect your vehicle and drive to Chameleon Guesthouse, here you’ll meet a tour consultant who will go through your travel plans. Depending on the time of your arrival you may choose to wander into the city centre, relax by the pool, perhaps join an optional township tour, or sunset horse ride.

Day 2 Kalahari Anib, Kalahari Desert
Depart from Windhoek and journey into the Kalahari Basin, this fossil desert with its undulating red sand dunes and inter-dune valleys covered in grass, shrubs and trees homes a surprising amount of game. Join a family-friendly game drive and find out about the Kalahari Desert

Day 3&4 Canyon Roadhouse, near Fish River Canyon
Proceed further south, en-route you can stop at the Quiver Tree Forest and Giant’s Playground before continuing to Canyon Roadhouse, in the privately owned Gondwana Canon Park. Witness how the water-starved quiver tree eke out an existence a few metres from lush ferns and mosses; and how typical desert animals like oryx antelopes, kudu, springbok, an impressive variety of birds and ostriches share this finely balanced environment with leopards, fish eagles and herons. The Fish River Canyon is ranked the second largest canyon in the world and absolutely magnificent and breathtaking in its immensity.

Day 5&6 Sesriem, Namib Naukluft Park
Enjoy the stunning scenery to Sesriem,this afternoon relax by the pool, and later, perhaps head to Elim’s Dune for sunset - listen to the backing geckos at sunset! The following day rise early to explore Sossusvlei - climb a dune and run down the slip-face - a family "must-do", as well as appreciate the size and scale of this endless sand sea

Day 7&8 Brigadoon Cottages, Swakopmund
Drive to the historic and adventure seaside town of Swakopmund, where have the opportunity to join optional activities, perhaps take part in a marine cruise and experience the thrill of dolphins leaping out of the water along the boat and feed seals by hand and enjoy fresh oysters and champagne on the cruise – a great activity for the family. Alternatively, join a desert tour, horse ride, sand board or quad-bike - there is a long list. It's a great place for curio shopping, visiting museums and relaxing in a cafe

Day 9 Twyfelfontein
Today drive north along the Skeleton Coast, just south of Henties Bay stop at a shipwreck close to the shore before continuing north - perhaps stop at Cape Cross Seal Colony en route, where thousands of seals congregate on the beach before retracing your steps to Henties Bay and turning inland continuing to Twyfelfontein, this is a very vulnerable and delicate ecosystem, renowned for some of the best examples of rock paintings and engravings in Southern Africa.

Day 10&11 Hoada Campsite, Northern Damaraland
Continue to Hoada Camp in the heart of Damaraland, this is a community-run establishment, and set up with nearby Grootberg Lodge where you can enjoy activities such as the opportunity to track endangered black rhino or head in search of the elusive desert elephant, this lodge offers a unique experience - there's a great swimming pool nestled in the rocks to cool off from the heat

Days 12-14 Etosha National Park – 3nights
Day 12&13 Okaukuejo
Day 14 Mushara Bush Camp

Etosha - one of the best game reserves in Southern Africa, enter through the western gate - it attracts species not found in other areas of the park such as Hartmann’s mountain zebra and baboon. From here game drive east and onto Okaukuejo, renowned for its active waterhole and chance to see black rhino (dry season).A final night is spent in the east of the park. Look out for lions, cheetah, leopard, elephant, hyena as well as the tallest animal - the elegant giraffe and plenty of plains game including zebra, pronking springbok and grunting wildebeest.

Day 15 Okonjima Camp, AfriCat Foundation
Enjoy a final game drive out of the park, head south to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation where you can learn about conservation of predators and see one of the most beautiful of all predators - the cheetah at close quarters - a truly remarkable way to end your family trip.

Day 16 Windhoek/Departure
Return to Windhoek, perhaps stop at Okahandja, for some last minute souvenir shopping at the craft markets where you can barter some gifts before returning to Windhoek International Airport and connect with your onward flight back home. No flights prior to mid/late afternoon.End of Service
