Safari Itinerary

Day 1 Belvedere Guesthouse, Windhoek
Upon arrival in Windhoek collect your vehicle and drive to Belvedere Guesthouse in the Ludwigsdorf suburb and just a few minutes drive from the city centre. You’ll meet one of our tour consultants’ who will go through your travel plans and answer any last minute questions you may have. Depending on your arrival time you may choose to wander into the city centre, or relax by the pool, alternatively join an optional township tour, horse ride, or even head out for a birding trip.

Day 2&3 Hoodia Desert Lodge, Namib Naukluft Park
Enjoy the stunning scenery on the drive to Hoodia Desert Lodge, located on the banks of the Tsauchab River in the heart of the desert region. This afternoon relax by the pool or on your private verandah, or join an optional tour. The following day enjoy a guided excursion to the Sossusvlei dunes where you'll have plenty of time to explore about the desert habitat. Ralax under the shade of a camel thorn tree taking in the magnificent desert vista before returning to the lodge for the heat of the day and ejoy a refreshing plunge in the pool.

Day 4&5 The Stiltz, Swakopmund
Drive through the desert to Swakopmund today, en-route you may choose to stop at Walvis Bay to visit the lagoon, a protected RAMSAR wetland site, to see the many species of birds including greater and lesser flamingos, pelicans, avocets, plovers and the endemic Damara tern before a short stop at the salt farm. From here, it is a short coastal drive to the historic and adventure seaside town of Swakopmund, where you can join optional activities on offer, such as a marine cruise or join a highly recommended day trip to Sandwich Harbour. Scenic flight take you over the Sossusvlei dunes and coastline to see dunes falling into the ocean, a shipwreck 200m inland and old diamond mines. For the more adventurous, kayak, tandem skydive, sand board, quad bike.

Day 6 Camp Kipwe, Twyfelfontein
Depart from Swakopmund after breakfast and drive north along the Skeleton Coast, stopping at a shipwreck south of Henties Bay and from here you may wish to visit Cape Cross seal colony – a huge colony where over 100,000 congregate here during breeding season. From here turn inland; your destination today the beautiful Camp Kipwe in the Twyfelfontein area, a very vulnerable and delicate ecosystem renowned for some of the best rock engravings in Southern Africa.

Day 7&8 Grootberg Lodge, Damaraland
Your destination today is Grootberg, located on the top of the Grootberg Plateau with incredible views of the region and valley.

Day 9&10 Okaukuejo, Premier Waterhole Chalet, Etosha National Park
Today head for Etosha, Namibia’s prime game reserve and spend the next two nights enjoying game drives in this premier park, one of the largest and best reserves in Africa. Each rest camp has its own swimming pool, floodlit waterhole, shop, restaurant and bar. Drive during the day and spend the evenings at the waterhole to see what comes to drink – Okaukuejo during the dry season attracts a host of animals including black rhino, elephant, lion, and a plethora of plains game.

Day 11 Okonjima Plains Camp, AfriCat Foundation
After a leisurely breakfast and a final game drive out of the park, head south to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation.

Day 12 Windhoek/Departure
Return to Windhoek (if time permits you may wish to enjoy an optional activity at Okonjima this morning), and continue south perhaps stopping at Okahandja for some last minute souvenir shopping at the craft markets where you can barter some gifts. Drop your vehicle in Windhoek and take onward connection – no flights prior to mid afternoon. Drive approx 2.5hours to city and 40mins to airport.
