Safari Itinerary

Day 1 The Elegant Guesthouse, Windhoek
Upon your arrival in Windhoek collect your vehicle and drive to the Elegant Guesthouse, here you will meet one of our tour consultants' who will go through your travel plans and answer any last minute questions. Depending on your arrival time perhaps wander into the city centre, relax by the pool or join an optional township tour, horse ride, or even head out for a birding trip.

Day 2-3 Namib Desert Lodge, Namib for Sossusvlei
After breakfast set off on your self-drive to Namib Desert Lodge, your base for 2 nights, there is time to relax this afternoon or appreciate the petrified sand dunes with a sundowner and glorious view. The following morning drive through to the dune sea and explore on foot - climb an apricot dune with endless views of sand, and visit Dead Vlei, famous for its white pan, skeletal dead trees, orange dunes with a backdrop of beautiful blue sky.

Day 4 Brigadoon Boutique B&B, Swakopmund
Drive to Swakopmund, heading accross the Gaub and Kuised passes towards Walvis Bay, visit the lagoon if you have time, it's a RAMSAR protected wetland site, home to many different aquatic birds such as flamingo, pelicans, cormorant, avocets, the endemic Damara tern and many more. Join ptional activities such as an afternoon scenic flight over the dunes of Sossusvlei, to the coast to see shipwrecks, old diamond mines, dunes falling into the ocean as well as seal colonies, flamingos etc. Alternatively, wander around town to see the architecture, enjoy coffee and cake and walk along the beach. For the adventurous, sand-board, quad-bike, sky-dive or join a marine cruise. There is plenty to choose from

Day 5-6 Ai Aiba Lodge, Erongo
Today drive north along the Skeleton Coast stopping to view a shipwreck just south of Henties Bay and easy view by the shore; from here, visit Cape Cross Seal Colony, where thousands of seals, and one of the largest colonies of Southern Africa, congregate on the beach. Spend 2nights in the Erongo region - enjoy walks and meet with a local San community and experience a little of singing and dancing, making of ropes and traditional lifestyles

Day 7 Damara Mopane Lodge, Damaraland
Visit nearby Twyfelfointein rock etchings,a UNESCO site full of ancient Bushman etchings, meet some of the locals at Damara Living Museum or visit the Petrified Forest en route to Damara Mopane.

Day 8-9 Okaukuejo and/or Halali Rest Camp, Etosha National Park
Drive to the amazing Etosha National Park, search for some of the many species found here including lion, leopard, hyena, elephant, endangered rhinos as well as plenty of antelope such as springbok, wildebeest, eland and much more. Enjoy game drives watching the animals come in to quench their thirst at the waterholes and observe their individual behaviour.

Day 10 Okonjima Plains Camp, Okonjima Nature Reserve
Head south to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation, one of Namibia's premier private reserves and the chance to see predators such as leopard or cheetah at close quarters

Day 11 Departure
If time permits, perhaps join a further activity (own expense) then return to windoek, you may wish to stop at Okahandja for some last minute souvenir shopping at the craft markets where you can barter some gifts before returning to Windhoek International Airport and connect with your onward flight back home.
