Safari Itinerary

Day 1 Galton House, Windhoek
Upon arrival at the airport you will be collected and transferred to Galton in Windhoek. Depending on the time perhaps wander to the shops or explore the city sights.

Day 2-3 Sossus Dune Lodge, Sossusvlei
You'll be collected from your accommodation by your guide and depart from Wndhoek at around 08h15-08h30am. Driving through the rugged Khomas Hochland mountain range we descend to the desert floor and continuing onto our lodge. Later this afternoon visit nearby Elim's dune for sunset. The next day is a pre-dawn departure from the lodge to the 2x4 car park - Sossus Dunes Lodge is the only one inside the national park so there is the added advantage of being able to climb a dune and watch the sunrise over one of the dunes around Sossusvlei and watch the incredible changing colours during the cool morning hours.

Day 4-5 Hotel Zum Kaiser, Swakopmund
Our drive today takes us through the gravel desert plains and over the Gaub and Kuiseb Passes (and Tropic of Capricorn), to the port town of Walvis Bay. We visit the lagoon, a protected RAMSAR wetland site where we endemic Damara tern before a short stop at the salt farm. From here continue onto Swakopmund, full of historic buildings and where you can join optional adventure activities such as sand boarding, quad biking, scenic flights, kayaking, marine cruises to name but a few, which you have time for this afternoon and tomorrow. Perhaps opt for a highly recommended day trip to Sandwich Harbour to appreciate this unique coastal and desert region and protected bird site.

Day 6 Camp Kipwe, Damaraland
We leave after breakfast and head north along the Skeleton Coast stopping at a shipwreck viewed close to the shore, and onto Cape, home of thousands of Cape fur seals. During breeding season over 100.000 are crammed onto the beach fighting for space. From here turn we retrace our steps to Henties Bay and inland driving pas Brandberg, the hightest point in Namibia and a huge massif rising up over the plains to Twyfelfontein area, and later this afternoon visit to the rock etchings with a local guide who will explain the history and importance of these etchings. Camp Kipwe is a beautiful lodge nestled in the rocks

Day 7 Grootberg Lodge, Damaraland
This morning depart from southern Damaraland and drive north to our base tonight is at the wonderful Grootberg Lodge, situated at the top of the Grootberg Plateau and has commanding views over the Klip Valley. This afternoon relax around the pool or perhaps enjoy an optional activity such as a sunset nature drive, or guided walk.

Day 8 Dolomite Camp , Etosha National Park
This morning depart from Grootberg and join a visit to a local Himba community, these statuesque and semi-nomadic people pride themselves on their unique apprearance - covering themeselves in ochre and butterfat, no only considered beautiful but to also protect them from the sun. Hairstyles vary according to age and marital status, and they adorn jewellery. This villages are normally set in a circle with the main focus on the central fire, the women take care of much of the village and children whilst the men and older boys tend to cattle and goats. A visit to a community will enable you to get an inside of their life and a translator will be on hand for questions you may wish to ask. From here continue to Etosha National Park. The next days are spend enjoying game drives and exploring the park visiting waterholes and searching for the many species of game. Etosha is recognised as one of the best game parks in Southern Africa for the numbers and various species of game as well as the interesting geology.

Day 9 Okaukuejo Rest Camp, Etosha National Park

The following day we game drive across the park to Okaukuejo for an additional night in the park in a waterhole chalet. We will game view and explore the surrounding area visiting a waterhole overlooking the Etosha Pan.

Day 10 Ongava Lodge , Etosha National Park

Enjoy another game drive this morning before departing the park, we'll turn immediately into the wonderful Ongava Private Game Reserve and drive to Ongava Lodge. Enjoy the vistas and look out onto the waterhole. Later this afternoon join a guided activity run by the lodge in an open vehicle and on the reserve searching for game including their large pride of lion and white rhino.

Day 11 Departure
A final game drive to the gate and return to Windhoek today after stopping at the craft markets in Okahandja where you can watch the various crafts being carved in wood. You will be dropped in Windhoek at your accommodation or at the airport for you ongoing flight, no flight prior to LATE afternoon.
