Safari Itinerary

Day 1 The Elegant Guesthouse, Windhoek
Upon arrival at the airport you will be collected and transferred to The Elegant Guesthouse in Windhoek. Depending on the time of arrival you may have the chance to wander the shops or city sights.

Day 2-3 Namib Desert Lodge, Namib
You will be collected from your accommodation by your guide and depart from Windhoek at around 08h30am. Driving through the rugged Khomas Hochland mountain range we descend to the desert floor. We will stop at the Namib Carnivore Conservation Centre to see what is being done to protect some of Namibia's predators before continuing to our lodge where we are based for 2nights. The following day its a pre-dawn departureto drive to the Sesriem gate then onto Sossusvlei, Climb a towering dune close to Sossusvlei to appreciate the endless vistasand then ontoDead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around, contrasting with a backdrop of huge orange-red dunes that make for superb photographic opportunities.

Day 4-5 Swakopmund Sands Hotel, Swakopmund
We drive to the port town of Walvis Bay stopping at the lagoon, a protected RAMSAR wetland site, before continuing onto Swakopmund, full of historic buildings and the chance to enjoy optional adventure activities such as a highly recommended day trip to Sandwich Harbour, marine cruise, scenic flight, kayaking or other adventure sport.

Day 6 Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, Twyfelfontein
Head north along the Skeleton Coast seeing the gravel plains and desert opening up around us with the ocean crashing down onto the shore. We visit Cape Cross, home of thousands of Cape Fur Seals, during the breeding season over 100,000 are crammed onto the beach fighting for space before turning inland and onto Twyfelfontein wherea visit to the ancient Bushman rock etchings, a UNESCO World Heritage site is included.

Day 7 Grootberg Lodge, Damaraland
This morning drive north to Gelbingen Lodge situated outside of Kamanjab and this afternoon visit a local Himba community. For the Himba, clothes, hair and jewellery hold a special meaning and form an important part of their tradition and culture. Even newborn babies are adorned with pearl necklaces while older children are given bracelets crafted from copper and decorated with shells,

Days 8-10 Okaukuejo / Halali / Namutoni Rest Camp, Etosha National Park
Our destination today is Etosha National Parkand time will be spent game viewing in this superb park. The active waterhole attracts various species of game such as black rhino, elephant and leopard. Etosha is recognised as one of the best game parks in Southern Africa for the numbers and various species of game as well as the interesting geology.

Day 11 Departure
We return to Windhoek today after stopping at the craft markets in Okahandja where you can watch the various crafts being carved in wood. You will be dropped in Windhoek at your accommodation or at the airport for you ongoing flight.
