This scheduled safari takes you from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe through natural wonders, incredible national parks and some of the best game viewing that Africa offers, along with lakes, beaches and exciting excursions. Starting in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, you cross into Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and concludes in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi. This tour can be reversed travelling north to south with both camping and accommodated options available.

Itinerary

Day 1 Eureka Camp, Lusaka

An early start from Victoria Falls and a final glimpse of the falls before driving north to Lusaka passing busy villages, colourful markets and rural regions. Tonight, we are close to the capital

Day 2 Chimwemwe Lodge, Petauke, Zambia

We drive through the busy city then turn east on the Great East Road into rural Zambia and cross the mighty Luangwa River passing subsistence farms and villages

Day 3&4 Wildlife Camp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

After stopping at Chipata, this town is important for cotton production and we visit a local workshop. From here, make our way to the tranquillity of the Luangwa River to enjoy 2nights and our first sunset on the banks of the river. On day 4 perhaps enjoy an optional morning safari or during the dry season (April to December) join one of the iconic walking safaris on offer in the park. This afternoon we will enjoy a sunset drive in this wildlife haven, enjoying a sundowner on the way. The unique opportunity to explore this incredible and wild park at night gives us a chance to spot the elusive nocturnal species that are rarely seen in the day. Watch out for plentiful hippos and crocs, herds of ele’s, buffalo, giraffe and gazelle. Big cats particularly leopards are plentiful and reputed to have the largest concentration of these beautiful cats in Africa

Day 5&6 Ngala Beach Lodge, Lake Malawi, Malawi

This morning we board our truck and head to Lake Malawi. Our destination tonight is the shores of Lake Malawi, stretching over 500km along the western boundary of Malawi, the lake is home to more species of fish than other lake. We spend the night on the shores of this natural wonder and on day 6 relax by the lake. Use the time to read a book, soak up sun or indulge in the many attractions that are on offer.

Day 7  Majizuwa, Northern Lake Malawi, Malawi 

Today we drive north to enjoy a further night in the northern region of the lake. This afternoon we will enjoy a visit to a local community and enjoy a spectacular sunset from the beach

Day 8  Utengule Coffee Lounge  Southern Highlands Tanzania

We cross the border to Tanzania and onward to Utengule located in the southern highlands and close to Ruaha National Park

Day 9 Kisolanza Farm, Iringa, Tanzania

We visit a local coffee plantation and learn a little of hte growing and harvesting of coffee beans, before making our way to Iringa ascending the Great Rift Valley

Day 10 Camp Bastion Mikumi, Mikumi National Park, Tanzania

Leaving Iringa behind us, we make our way to Mikumi where we stop for the night. Mikumi National Parks ranks as the fourth largest park in Tanzania and forms part of a 75 000sq km wilderness that centres on Selous, Africa’s largest game reserve. Enjoy a game drive to look for impala, elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and lion

Day 11 Forodhani Park Hotel, Stone Town Zanzibar Island

An early start to catch the ferry over to Zanzibar and explore this ancient town renowned for the Slave and Spice Trades

Day 12&13 Anaan Bungalows, Nungwi, Zanzibar Island

After enjoying a guided walking spice tour and watch the locals climbing trees or seeking out specific plants to collect th spices we make our way to Nungwi where there’s time to take part in exciting optional activities from boat cruises to snorkelling or scuba diving and enjoy the fantastic white sand beaches and sparkling warm ocean.

Day 14 Bagamoyo Travellers Lodge, Tanzania

Catching the ferry back to Dar, we collect the truck and drive to Bagamoyo whose name harks back to days of slavery and means “lay down your heart”. Tonight, is by the beach 

Day 15 Meru Mbega Lodge, Usa River, Tanzania

We continue through the busy town of Arusha and Usa River location for tonight.  Northern Tanzania is home to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Kilimanjaro and later will be briefed this evening by our local guide on what to prepare for the coming days

Day 16 Kudu Lodge, Karatu, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Although it’s a short distance to Karatu, we spend most of the day travelling closer to Ngorongoro Crater, and upon arrival our guide will brief us on the full day excursion to come.  Karatu is situated to allow you to participate in optional activities during our stay, and those clients who have purchased the Serengeti Excursion (optional) will be collected on the morning of day 16 and follow a separate itinerary

Day 17 Kananga Special Tented Camp, Seronera, Serengeti

We rise early and are transferred to the crater, spending much of the day exploring the crater floor in search of some of the many animals which roam the plains, and overnight in the heart of the Serengeti.  In the crater base, we aim to see as many animals as possible. The Serengeti is most famous for its wildebeest migration, a circular route where around 1.5m wildebeest troupe in a circular route following their ancient survival instincts not only to find the best grazing but also taking time to breed, its one of the most captivating and exciting natural phenomena’s in the world. There’s large concentrations of animals to see in both the Serengeti and crater from gazelle, elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and plenty of predators following the movements of the herbivore

Day 18  Kudu Lodge, Karatu

This morning brings more exploration of the Serengeti searching for more of the animals found here, and watch out for lion, leopard and more.  Later in the afernoon we return to Karatu entralled by all the animals we have seen 

Day 19 Meru Mbega Lodge, Usa River, Tanzania

Make our way back to Usa River for a final night 

Day 20 End of tour – Nairobi 

 Cross the border into Kenya and make our way to Nairobi, where our tour ends
