15 Day Deserts of Namibia & Delta Flood Plains of Botswana Self–Drive & Fly–In

This self–drive will take you to the Kalahari, NamibRand Nature Reserve and the wonderful Namib Desert – 3 desert regions; from here continue to one of Africa’s largest private reserves with a final night at a conservation programme. From here it’s onto Botswana and the floodplains and greenery of the Okavango Delta where game abounds – this safari is a beautiful contrast of landscapes and wildlife.

For the Delta section you will be based at two camps and will enjoy scenic flights between camps before returning to Maun. This option offers a mixture of levels of accommodation of mid–range and beautiful luxury camps.

Day 1&2 Bagatelle Game Ranch, Kalahari Desert

Upon arrival from your flight into Windhoek, collect your vehicle and drive into the heart of the Kalahari Basin. For the first two nights of your honeymoon you’ll be based in this 7,000ha game reserve. Formerly a sheep and cattle farm it is now home to various species of game such as kudu, giraffe, springbok and also cheetah – the cheetah are part of a conservation programme run by CCF – Cheetah Conservation Fund and will give you a chance to see these elegant cats at close quarters. Other optional activities include nature drives, horse riding and a morning walk with the Bushman where you have a chance to learn about their traditional lifestyle

Day 3&4 Wolwedans Dune Camp, NamibRand Nature Reserve

Today drive across to Wolwedans set amongst the stunning landscapes of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, in the heart of the desert. This is a wonderful location and sure to be a highlight of your trip offering seclusion, peace and privacy. You’ll be based here on a full board with included activities, which are based around this private reserve to include nature walks and drives exploring mountain, desert plains, yellow grassy savannahs and ochre sand dunes. A favourite destination of ours and a dark sky destination - 

Day 5&6 Desert Whisper nr Namib Naukluft Park

Onward to the Sossusvlei region – after leaving Wolwedans early, make your way ot the beautiful dunes of Sossusvlei, venturing into the dune fields where the early morning light trickles over the bright orange dunes. Continue to Dead Vlei, where the ancient and skeletal camel thorn trees stand on the white pan with the backdrop of apricot sand dunes and blue sky as well as a chance to explore nearby Sossusvlei. Climb a dune and marvel as the dunes stretch as far as the eyes can see into the endless desert. From here make your way to Desert Whisper, an exclusive camp set in the Namib Desert with incredible views over the desert plains.  A private guide will take you on excursions around the reserve

Day 7&8 Erindi Private Game Reserve

Leave the desert driving north east to Erindi, recommend departing after breakfast as the drive is long and likely to take around 7hours. Once here relax by the waterhole or the pool later in the afternoon. Erindi is one of the largest private game reserves in Africa and home to huge numbers of animals. Species include elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, giraffe and plains game, hippos and crocs. There are also endangered species including cheetah, pangolin and wild dog. There is a range of interesting activities on offer from thrilling day and night game drives and walks to telemetry tracking, and visiting Bushman rock art spots. Erindi works closely with the local communities as well as supporting conservation programmes

Day 9 N/a’ankuse Lodge & Wildlife Sanctuary, Windhoek

Today takes you back to the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek and onward to Na an kuse Lodge for a final night in Namibia. This afternoon, choose from Ancient San Stories under the Stars, Ancient San Skills Academy – both of these options give you an insight into the Bushman community, alternatively head out on a Sunset/Night Drive to search for nocturnal game, or join the Meerkat Experience to see these endearing and characterful animals. Tonight is on a full board basis – includes meals, 1x activity/ tour, and accommodation, drinks and additional activities at own expense

Day 10 Thamalakane Lodge, Maun

This morning drive/transfer to the airport to drop off the car and a private road transfer will collect you and take you over the border and onward to Thamalakane just north of Maun where you’re located on the river banks and can listen to the calls of hippos. Note there are no direct flights from Windhoek –Maun, however, if you prefer this option via JNB we can arrange

Days 11–14 Fly In Safari, Okavango Delta Botswana
Day 11&12 Moremi Crossing or Gunn’s Camp

Your adventure starts with a scenic flight from Maun and takes in the magnificence of the winding, papyrus fringed channels that make up one of the world’s greatest wetland regions. You will be able to see some of Africa’s most celebrated animals from a bird’s eye view –500 FT above the ground. Overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Moremi Crossing combines luxury with simplicity and superb value for money. Day 13&14 Mma Dinare or Rra Dinare, Okavango Delta

Today’s flight takes you onward to your next camp overlooking a beautiful lagoon surrounded by palm islands, forests, dry plains and interleading waterways. This traditional–style tented camp offers exciting game drives, night drives, mokoro excursions, game walks with the chance to see not only Big Game but learn about smaller creatures and the wonderful balance of nature. Day 15 Return to Maun

You will be flown back to Maun this morning where you can take your onward connection. End of services
