A local ferry takes us from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar and transfer to Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar, where we will spend the first night; there’s time to explore the historical and unique architecture, once famous for the slave and spice trade routes with a spice tour included.
From here, we make our way to the beach areas and have the opportunity to join some of the many attractions on offer – from watersporks along with ocean safari options. Rent a scooter or simply relax on the beach and listen to the waves of the ocean lap on the shore
We board the ferry and return to Dar es Saleem, from here we drive north to Bagamoyo to overnight – depending on the time of arrival there may be time for an optional activity
The town of Arusha is surrounded by some of African most famous landscapes and national parks and launching point for our following days to explore the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Our accommodation tonight is on the border of the national park – climb the viewing tower and see what animals you can spot from here.
The journey can be a little slow as we travel today and make our way to Karatu but it puts us in a prime position for the days’ ahead and our guide will brief us this evening on the upcoming adventure
An early start as we are collected from our camp and make our way in 4x4 safari style vehicles to make our way to the crater floor in search of some of the wildlife found here – from herds of elephants, to plains game including plentiful gazelle, zebra and giraffe. Watch out for predators including big cats such as lion, cheetah and serval. We spend the night in the heart of the Serengeti and as you watch the sunset, listen to the calls of the animals
Another early start to maximise the time in the Serengeti and to spot some of the animals when they are most active in the cool morning. We spend much of our day game driving in search of some of the animals that reside here, returning to Karatu late afternoon
Today we return to Arusha arriving later in the afternoon
After crossing the border into Kenya we continue to travel toward Nairobi. Founded by the British in 1899 as a simple rail depot, the town quickly grew to become the capital of British east Africa and eventually the capital of Kenya in 1963. Relax after your excursions or join optional activities
We leave the capital of Nairobi and travel to the Masai Mara full of wild animals, staggering beauty and endless plains. Spend the following day game driving through the rolling grasslands of the Masai Mara to spot some of the animals that can be found here including elephant, black rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. Hippos and crocs abound in the muddy rivers that traverse the park
We rise early and enjoy our final game drive through the Mara before heading to the Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its huge numbers of lesser flamingos and pelicans where we will enjoy an afternoon game drive through the park.
Today we return to Nairobi. Upon arrival, visit Nairobi Giraffe Centre, and a chance to see these elegant animals’ close–up, from here we enjoy a game drive through the Nairobi National Park for a final chance to spot animals such as rhino, big cats, hyena and antelope.
