Upon arrival in Windhoek, collect your vehicle and drive to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time you may choose to wander into the city centre, or relax by the pool alternatively join an optional township tour, horse ride, or even head out for a birding trip. The time is free for you to enjoy and prepare for your adventure ahead
Depart after breakfast and head onto the Kalahari Basin where the grassy valleys and beautiful orange linear dunes form part of this fossil desert. Camp at Anib for game drives, or fat–bike rides, or stay at the nearby traditional Farmstead to learn a little of Namibian farm life
Spend 4nights in Africa’s first official Transfrontier Park, it combined Kalahari–Gemsbok National Park in South Africa with Gemsbok Park in Botswana and is a prime location for game viewing particularly to spot predators and desert plains game. Black–maned lions, leopards, plentiful cheetah as well as unusual species such as brown hyena, bat–eared fox and wild cat can be spotted.
Return to Namibia and drive to the Fish River Canyon, reputed to be the second largest canyon in the world and one of Namibia’s highlights. You’ll be based here for two nights giving ample time to appreciate and explore the scale and harsh beauty of the canyon whether you join a canyon drive heading to the base driving past the towering walls of rock, hiking to the bottom of the canyon with its rocky pools, or simply sit with a sundowner drink. This is not only the best–placed lodge in the Fish River area, but in our opinion, the best!
Onward to one of best kept secrets of Namibia – Klein Aus Vista, a truly beautiful spot, situated on the edge of the desert with endless views of open plains and mountains. Enjoy self–guided hikes or a day trip to Luderitz and its desolate coastline. Visit Kolmanskop Ghost Town, a tribute to the diamond mining of the past where gem–quality stones were deftly picked from the ground and millions of carats traded in its hey–dey. As you return to Klein Aus, stop at the waterhole and visitors hide to view the wild horses of the Namib
Enjoy the stunning scenery on the drive north to the Namib Naukluft area. The following day, rise early to visit the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Climb a dune to the top and gaze at the endling sand stretching into the distance, or rest under the shade of the trees appreciating the beauty of perfectly–sculpted dunes. Ensure you visit Dead Vlei, where ancient and skeletal camel thorn trees stand on the white pan with the backdrop of orange sand dunes and blue sky, it’s worth stopping at famous Dune 45 and Sesriem Canyon on your way back to your start point.
A short drive today of around 1.5 hours to the Tsaris Mountains where flat–topped mountains meet the stunning Naukluft Mountains – a great spot for hiking! Alternatively, once at the lodge you can enjoy a wine–tasting tour or even head out for a cheetah feeding excursion to see these wonderful predators at close quarters. A great way to spend your final evening in
Return to Windhoek to drop off your rental vehicle and to connect with your onward flight. No flights prior to mid–afternoon. End of services
