Day 1&2 Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

We leave the capital and travel to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Today the tour enters this huge area of spectacular game viewing to photograph some of Africa’s most abundant wildlife. Famous for the annual migration of around 1.5 million wildebeest, the Masai Mara is also home to many other animals, including lions. We head into the Mara with small bags for overnight excursion and on day 2 spend the day in the park game driving and exploring the rolling grasslands to search for some of the wonderful animals found here such as elephant, black rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and the ever–present predators

Day 3 Hotel Waterbuck, Lake Nakuru, Kenya

After a final game drive in the early morning light, our journey takes us Lake Nakuru National Park, where we will enjoy an afternoon game drive through the park looking out for some of the huge flocks of flamingos the park is famed for.

Day 4  Kalagala Falls Overland Camp, Jinja, Uganda

Leaving Lake Nakuru we head towards Uganda, briefly stopping for a photo at the Equator. Jinja is Uganda’s second largest city and most famous as the point where the Nile flows out of Lake Victoria and begins the 6695km journey to Egypt and the Mediterranean

Day 5&6 Kabalega Resort, Masindi for Murchison Falls, Uganda – CHIMP TRACKING

After a quick stop in the city of Kampala, we head in the direction of The Murchison Falls National Park. Also referred to as the Kabaraga Falls, Murchison Falls is a waterfall found on the course of the great Nile and are located within thee Murchison National Park. The park is recognized as one of the best National Parks in Uganda.

Day 6 takes us in on a guided trek through the beautiful forest in search of chimpanzees – these entertaining and often noisy primates are found in Budongo Forest within the largest Mahogany forest found in the whole of East Africa. It is believed that there are between 600 – 700 chimpanzees in Budongo, the largest number in Uganda. We will also enjoy a game drive through the park in search of the great diversity of wild animals

Day 7 Simba Safari Camp, Northern Queen Elizabeth National Park

We make our way to our base close to the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park with views across the lake

Day 8 –10 Lake Bunyonyi – GORILLA TRACKING!

Crossing the Equator once more we travel south to the beautiful scenery of Lake Bunyonyi. With eager anticipation we prepare for the upcoming gorilla trekking excursion and tonight we will receive a briefing on what to expect for the next few days. Although there are 2 days allocated to gorilla trekking you will only spend one day on the trek – treks can be from 45minutes to several hours as we climb up amongst the forest, tracking and listening to see where the gorilla family may be – it is one of the most humbling and rewarding wildlife experiences available and one that will stay with you for years to come. During our time we learn about the lives and culture of the Nyoma Village Pygmies

Day 11 Hillside Plaza, Kampala, Uganda

This morning we set off our return journey to Kampala and make a third crossing of the Equator along our way. Tonight your guide will brief you on the activities available in Jinja so that you can plan your day tomorrow

Day 12  Kalagala Falls Overland Camp, Jinja

Jinja offers many exciting activities and your guide will assist you to plan for this day. Most activities are focused around the water of the Nile and these include rafting, kayaking and a variety of cruises on Africa’s largest river. For those who may be less inclined to water sports can enjoy a highly–recommend horse ride, or a quad bike adventure on dry land

Day 13 Naiberi River Camp, Eldoret, Kenya

Returning to Kenya we visit Eldoret, the country’s 5th largest city. The Great Rift Valley is still the dominant geographical feature of this region and the altitude at Eldoret is 2100 metres above sea level

Day 14 Nairobi – end

Returning to Nairobi this afternoon we reflect on many memories that we have gathered together and brace ourselves for a return to the busy streets of Nairobi. Your tour ends upon arrival
