Itinerary

Day 1&2 Sesriem / Sossusvlei area

Your guide will meet you this morning and today drive to the breath–taking region of Sesriem, located in the Namib Naukluft National Park. The first two nights are spent here and your guide will lead you on an early morning excursion to the sand dunes – the shadows on the sand dunes as the sun lifts over the apricot dunes in the heart of the famous sand dune sea is nothing short of spectacular – visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, perhaps climb a dune or two and have free time.  There is time during the stay to visit nearby Sesriem Canyon.

Day 3&4  Swakopmund

Travel to the coast as a group or independently via Solitiare and the gravel plains stopping at Walvis Bay Lagoon where your guide will point out some of the many species of bird before heading along the coastal road to Swakopmund, the adventure town of Namibia. There is free time for optional activities, your guide will also take those that want to visit the Moon Landscape and welwitschia on a guided self–drive excursion

Day 5  Spitzkoppe

Head north along the Skeleton Coast stopping at a shipwreck, and onward to Cape Cross seal colony where you can witness thousands of fur seals spread along the beach by the pounding Atlantic Ocean.  From here continue to Spitzkoppe, a magnificent inselberg rising above the flat plains set in the Namib Desert.  For those interested, your guide will take you on a guided tour to look at some of the strange, eroded rock formations as well as ancient paintings, left on the rocks by Bushman thousands of years ago.  Others can explore on their own or simply relax.

Day 6  Damaraland

Onward to the arid and rugged landscapes of Damaraland, where a visit to the Twyfelfontein rock etchings is included, a local guide will explain the history of the area and importance of these etchings, continue to Damara Living Museum for a glimpse at the traditional life of the Damara people and the chance to interact with this local community before continuing to the overnight accommodation via Petrified Forest

Day 7 Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park beckons!  Enter at Andersons Gate in the south and game drive through to Okaukejo arriving in the afternoon.  Etosha is a wildlife haven and one of the best game viewing destinations in Africa – watch out for some of the species found here from predators such as lion, hyena and leopard, to herds of elephants and plains game includiing zebra, wildebeest, springbok and giraffe.  During the evening the flood lit waterholes attract animals including endangered black rhino, elephant, and much more.

Day 8  East Etosha

Game drive across the park to the east aspect, exploring the surrounding waterholes scattered along the southern edge of the pan and watch as animals come to drink.  Your guide will stop at Etosha Pan and for theose wishing to join, will explain the fascinating geology and history of the park, in the evening will also spend time discussing the days’ sightings of animals and birds spotted along the way so keep those notebooks handy when out on a drive

Day 9  Erindi Private Game Reserve

Erindi is one of the largest private game reserves in Africa, with a wealth of animals.  This afternoon you can head out in your own vehicle to explore the reserve, or join a guided game drive with the lodge in an open vehicle (own expense).  Erindi is home to a wide range of animals including predators such as wild dog (not found in Etosha), lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena.  Look out for large mammals from elephant to white and black rhino and sit at the waterhole close to camp to spot hippo and crocs.
