This morning, collect your rental vehicle and drive north to Erindi, a private reserve full of enticing game such as elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and even endangered wild dog. Erindi, meaning ’Place of Water’ is a sustainable and pristine wonderland with multiple conservation projects. This afternoon you can enjoy an optional game drive, heading off into the veldt in search of some of the species of game and birds before returning to the lodge around sunset. Alternatively, sit by the swimming pool or your room overlooking a floodlit waterhole and watch the game come to quench their thirst.
Drive north to the west aspect of Etosha National Park, sit and relax at the waterhole, in the hide or head out on optional game drives in open vehicles. Exciting night drives also available offering the chance to see species not spotted during the day. A popular destination where you’ll spend 2 nights
Game drive to the centre of the park and Okaukuejo – the main rest camp of Etosha where this amazing floodlit waterhole attracts game such as herds of elephants, prides of lion, black rhino, and plenty of plains game. During the dry, winter months the waterhole at Okaukuejo provides rewarding sightings during the evening and as such is highly recommended
Game to the east of the park – it’s worth visiting Etosha Pan known as the ’Great White Place’, where during dry season you can stand on the pan and enjoy the endless vistas and spiralling dust devils. Flamingos flock here in their hundreds of thousands during the rainy season to breed, along with pelicans and plovers and is recognised under the RAMSAR convention as an ephemeral wetland of international importance making it a great birding spot for avid birders
A final night is spent at Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation and a chance to see big cats in close proximity as well as a chance to find out about conservation and environmental education of large predators in Namibia. The country is home to over 20% of the world’s population of cheetah – that’s more than anywhere else. Generally regarded as one of the top destinations in the country
Return to Windhoek to drop off your vehicle and take your onward connection. Note that itineraries and routes vary a little according to level of comfort but all offer 6 nights in/around Etosha – please check the itinerary for details as can be reverse.
