You’ll have a meet and greet at the international airport and from here transfer to your hotel in Nairobi where the remainder of the day is free
Drive north to Samburu National Reserve where we spend our time enjoying morning and afternoon game drives exploring the area. This reserve offers breathtaking sun baked landscape surrounded by mountains – to the west, the sheer sided slopes of majestic Ol Olokwe Mountain form a perfect back drop to any photograph. Animals commonly seen are elephants, lions, cheetahs, grevy zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, buffalos, oryx, grants gazelles, dikdiks and waterbucks. The reserve is also home of the Samburu tribe, cousins of the Maasai, who share the same nomadic, cattle–herding existence and a strict adherence to their age–old rites and customs
Set off towards the stunning scenery of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley where we spend the next 2 nights. Mbweha is a high–quality safari camp set on the private 6400acre Congreve Conservancy near the southern border of Lake Nakuru National Park and has spectacular views of the surrounding mountainous landscape. Join an escorted nature walk from Mbweha for a close–up view of the local flora and fauna. The following day, enjoy a a full day to explore the Lake Nakuru National Park famed for the spectacular pink flamingos that gather on its salt encrusted shores. The woodland and grassland surround the soda lake are home to an abundance of wildlife including black rhino, white rhino, hippo, leopard, lion and the rare Rothschild giraffe.
We continue our safari by heading to the world–famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Tipilkwani Mara Camp has 20 luxury riverfront tents located on the banks of the Talek River overlooking the iconic Mara plains. Join game drives in the Masai Mara in search of the big cats for which the Mara is renowned. We will also see a wide variety of Kenya’s other species – great and small – such as elephants, buffalo, giraffe, plains game and much more Day 8 Nairobi After breakfast, we depart the Mara arriving back early/mid afternoon where you are dropped at the airport.
