Day 1 Sossusvlei area

Collect your vehicle and meet with a Chameleon consultant who will answer any last–minute questions regarding your self-drive in Namibia, before leaving the city behind. Later this afternoon, explore the contrasting desert landscapes and enjoy a spectacular sunset and beautiful starry night skies

Day 2 Sossusvlei area

Today will take you to this UNESCO World Heritage Site and a visit to the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei is unforgettable. Dead Vlei is perhaps the most photographed of vleis with its ancient camel–thorn trees, shimmering white pan and a backdrop of ochre sand and blue skies, its no wonder it is regarded as one of Namibia’s major highlights. As you make your way back to your starting point, ensure you stop at Dune 45 – where a climb up part or all of the dune gives a great vantage point to the surrounding sand sea

Note if you camp (Sesriem), or stay at Dead Valley Lodge inside the park, you are able to gain access to the dune sea for sunrise.  For all lodges/camps outside the national park, you can only enter at sunrise, and it’s still around 60mins drive to the dunes – for many people this is fine, but if you are an avid photographer our recommendation is to stay inside the park where you have extended hours and can benefit from the quiet and first /last light  before returning to your base.

Day 3 Swakopmund

Drive to the coast, it’s worth stopping at Solitaire – famous for its apple pie, rusting old cars and traditional–style store before driving to Swakopmund – Namibia’s activity capital. Perhaps join an optional activity such as a scenic flight or sky dive this afternoon

Day 4 Departure

Return to Windhoek to drop off of your vehicle and continue with onward travel arrangements– suggest no flight prior to mid–afternoon.
