Departing from Windhoek this morning, we travel north to Etosha aiming to arrive at Anderson Gate by mid–afternoon. Etosha National Park, one of the largest game parks in Africa and Namibia’s premier game viewing destination. With over 114 mammal species including elephant, lion, leopard and more than 700 black rhino it lives up to its reputation as one of the best African game reserves.
Today is spent game driving as you head east to a traditional fort and your base at Namutoni, en–route visiting many of the waterholes and perhaps stopping at Etosha Pan originally a vast lake and now a shimmering bowl of salt where mirages and dust devils rise.
Be prepared for a long, scenic transit back to Windhoek, passing through towns and rural areas, stopping in the town of Okahandja, the home of Namibia’s largest wood carving market for last–minute gifts before arriving back in the capital city late in the afternoon where you are dropped off at your accommodation.
