Just on the outskirts of Livingstone is Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. It's a small park but only a small section is fenced off - it borders the Zambezi River and many of the animals come and go as they please. The upside of this is the many elephants that cross the river into the park. It's easy to negotiate so those self-drivers can drive into the park themselves if they wish. You're likely to see many animals including white rhino (though their numbers are depleted), giraffe, buffalo, hippo and a host of common antelope. Alternatively you can join a guided or a walking safari or even take a microlight over the park - certainly a different way of game viewing!
For those wanting to travel a little further afield you may wish to consider a safari to Kafue National Park, Luangwa and Lower Zambezi. Zambia for many is like stepping into "real" Africa and those visiting must be ready to take the rough with the smooth - infrastructure can be challenging but nevertheless its one of the most beautiful and rewarding countries you can visit with great wildlife, fascinating cultures and perhaps less visitors than in many other African countries |
