Mid-Range Accommodation Around Livingstone(Zambia)

Livingstone is the cornerstone to a visit to the mighty Victoria Falls.  For many years it played second fiddle to the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls but nowadays it's a thriving town and tourism has grown significantly.  Accommodation is available at all levels and the choices are constantly growing.

Zambezi Sun

Zambezi Sun Hotel
The Zambezi Sun, located on the edge of the eastern cataract of the Victoria Falls, reflects the richness and diversity of the country’s heritage; capturing the very soul of Africa – unpretentious, fun and welcoming.  With its warm, earthy architecture, inspired by an African walled village and simple finishes highlighted in bright mosaics and fabrics as well as intoxicating Zambian artworks and accessories, the Zambezi Sun is set to turn your stay into a memorable experience - not to everyone's taste, it nevertheless has a prime position and a private path to the Falls themselves and you can even hear the roar of the Falls from the hotel.

There's plenty to keep the family entertained, a selection of restaurants and room to spread yourself out on the lawn or the kids to run around - there's also a fun club for kids so parents can enjoy some down time or even half day excursion specifically geared towards the kids.  All in a safe and secure environment.

There's shuttle services into Livingstone, a travel centre to help you book activities as well as a curio shop

Maramba River Lodge
Ideally located just 4km from the Victoria Falls, Maramba River Lodge provides a most attractive all-year-round base in a shaded woodland setting.

The Lodge is situated in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on a bluff overlooking the Maramba River, and is often visited by the resident wildlife with elephant wandering through the grounds at certain times of the year.

There's four luxury safari tents that provide all the comforts of a lodge without sacrificing the pleasures of a camping experience. Each tent is individually decorated to a theme with our own handcrafted furniture. The ensuite bathroom is tiled throughout with a shower open to the African sky. Tents are available with twin beds, doubles and singles. Barbecue facilities.

Maramba's private chalets are spacious and airy and nestle under mopane and mahogany trees. All the rustic, thatched chalets have creative mukwa and wrought iron fittings, en-suite tiled bathrooms, mosquito proofing with treated nets, ceiling fans, internal safe, and views over the Maramba river or floodlit waterhole. The chalets are available in twins, doubles and family units that sleep 4. Each chalet has barbecue facilities
.

Because of the location, Maramba is often visited by the Park's resident wildlife. Enjoy the frog chorus and the other traditional sounds of the African night as you camp at Maramba. The safari tents under thatch offer an alternative choice, with each having two beds, electricity and barbecue facilities. There are 10 twin beds and 2 four bedded tented options available.

For those who are keen on traditional camping, Maramba caters for all your needs. We have two ablution blocks, manicured lawns on which to pitch your tents, picnic tables at which to eat and barbecue stands for all your cooking requirements.

Located within the broader confines of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, the accommodation is set in chalets along the banks of the river.  Chalets are built from brick and thatch and each chalet has an individual style, they have been renovated recently. The main lodge area is perfectly positioned to offer guests spectacular views of the Zambezi River. Bush comfort is the order of the day as you sit back, relax and order ice cold drinks from our well stocked bar. Meals are served in the main lodge area and guests are encouraged to interact socially around the communal dining room table.

Activities and a shuttle service into town can be arranged

Perhaps the big pull of the lodge is it's home to the elephants. Discover the beauty of the Zambezi River atop an African Elephant. Safari's are conducted early morning or late afternoon. The possibility of spotting game is enhanced from your elevated position on this magnificent creature. After your ride you will be encouraged to interact and become one with your elephant. An experience not to be missed.  Normally the elephants used for the safaris then come to drink at the waterhole by the swimming pool, sit around and relax by the pool and watch them just metres from you - a special experience.
