Budget Accommodation In Maun

Maun - the main entry point to the Okavango Delta, where you can join a safari, fly into Botswana and generally get yourself around.  One of the largest towns in Botswana, there's a real mix of new buildings and traditional huts.  There's shops, banks, bars and restaurants here.

Audi Camp
(Maun)
Audi Camp provides one of the better campsites in Maun, each pitch having its own braai, shady tree and water supply.  There's shared ablutions, quirky and great, and other services include a large thatched bar, restaurant and swimming pool.
Bring your own tent or hire one of their dome or meru style tents (some of which have en suite facilities) for those wanting a bit more comfort.
They also have "luxury", en suite tents set upon decks with views across the river - whilst they may not be luxury in comparison to lodges/ tented camps in the true sense, these offer good value for money and are ideal for those about to head out or return from a camping trip into the Delta and want a bit of style and comfort for a night.
There's a swimming pool and close by a jungle gym for the kids so parents can relax by the pool whilst still overseeing the children.
The menu is varied and reasonably priced, and the breakfast is one of the best valued I have seen in a long time - with a huge selection from fresh fruit salad, cereals, muffins, breads (with jams etc) to full "English" style breakfast.  In addition, the kitchen is open all day for anyone with an attack of the munchies or wanting a full lunch or dinner (or just a snack).
There's a curio shop and travel agency on site for those who haven't yet managed to book their local activities or trip into the Delta.

The Old Bridge Backpackers
(Maun) -
Set close to the river that flows permanently so you can listen to the call of the hippos and the old bridge there plenty of shady spots along with shared ablutions, fully equipped kitchen, bar and basic restaurant. There's also dormitory beds available  (though they are single rooms and therefore offer privacy they can get a bit hot as there is little ventilation and there are no mossie nets so ensure you bring your own, as well as tents for hire - either single and double, this is a good option for real backpacker style travellers.

Discovery Bed and Breakfast

We think this place is quirky, fun and a great value option for those who don't want to camp but are on a limited budget.  The couple that run this place are friendly and will also help out booking activities for you.  There's a handful of  African, rondavel style huts (have a toilet and basin but no shower - there are shared ablutions outside), or 3 "luxury" huts, a little larger and with full, en-suite facilities.  Each of the huts is individually painted in an African style, with African themed prints and wooden furniture in each (are you getting the African feel here?).  As you sit around the camp fire in the evening (meals can be provided if you book in advance or you can head along the road to eat at a nearby lodge/camp), no doubt you will be able to share your African tales with the rest of the campers.  All set amongst small, private gardens in an enclosed area around 300m from the main road that even a small sedan can manage to get to.
