Ugab Terrace Lodge

Namibia is a world on its own! Indulge yourself with the breathtaking view at Ugab Terrace Lodge, animal life and overwhelming experiences of bathing in a swimming pool constructed in the rocks at the top of the mountain. Treat yourself to horseback riding, a mountain bike ride and a walk in nature to experience our lustrous vegetation at Ugab Terrace Lodge.

Whilst enjoying the impressive sunrise and sunsets from the balcony of your Bungalow, you allow yourself to once again come into contact with endless tranquility and peace of mind. Once you have experience our wild life in their natural habitat, you will understand why we believe that when you visit our lodge, you must be very close to heaven....

Namibia is the country to begin your African journey. The daily life is very European, but when in nature, you realize that you are away from the fast lane of life.

The food and drinks, as well as the experience to sit next to an open fire and smell that Steak, or Oryx, sizzling on the coals, are palatable to European standards.

At Ugab Terrace Lodge we cater for those who would like to stay in the luxury of one of the 10 well furnished bungalows - all with shower, W.C. and verandah, are situated on a terrace and allow the visitor a breathtaking view on the Terrace Mountains or in a tastefully furnished luxury tent erected on a platform, or camp with your own camping gear at our campsite.

Ugab Terrace Lodge

Activities include hiking, mountain biking and of course, horse riding.....

The horses are well cared for saddle horses for those of you that would like to exercise yourself and them.

Horse and rider can enjoy riding tours close to the lodge. The lodge is hoping that in 2009 to annually offer trips via the Ugab River to the sea. These trips will be once or twice a year and will cater for a limited number of riders. Obviously you will have to be riding fit as these trips will be in the region of 10 days. During these trails we will sleep in comfortable tents and spend the evenings under the stars sitting next to an open campfire and enjoy a typical Namibia braai (barbeque). If you would like to participate in this event, please communicate with us to determine the viability of these trips.

Ugab Terrace Lodge feel that their activities will bring you closer to nature, to enjoy that feeling of freedom on horseback, and to feel the warm wind in your face, whilst riding through the typical African bush.

We are about 200 km from the Etosha Game park, where you will have the time of your life watching the game and other wild life in their natural habitat.

Some 90 kilometres west of Khorixas lies Twyfelfontein ("Doubtful Spring"), with one of the most extensive galleries of rock engravings in the world. They aren't really paintings, but have been done by cutting through the hard surface layer of sandstone. More than 2000 petroglyphes have been counted here, and in 1952, the valley of Twyfelfontein was proclaimed a National Monument. The rock engravings are found on a number of smooth rock surfaces and most of them depict animals and their tracks. Scientists have estimated their ages to vary between 1000 and 10000 years: The majority agrees on an age of about 6000 years.

The Brandberg with its highest peak Königstein, is the highest mountain in Namibia and a National Monument. The geological history of Brandberg is just as interesting as the thousands of rock art paintings and engravings on the mountain and its surroundings. The Brandberg itself is not a volcano but is a granite plug which was pressed out of the volcano's pipe and stopped at about 10 000 meters under the surface. That is why the granite of the Brandberg is younger than the Dolorite which lies around the Brandberg.
