"We recently had a 5 week trip to Namibia in Africa organised by Jules of Chameleon Travel in Windhoek. We wished to go with someone who was familiar with the territory as we live in Australia and had no idea what the best route would be. This trip, totally organised by Jules, was a balance of self-drive camping on top of a 4x4 dual cab and part staying at interesting game lodges. Neither Noel nor myself were interested in an organised tour. The variety of this trip made it possible to see many aspect of the country even including 3 days in a houseboat on the Chobe River 80kms above the Victoria Falls living it up as we floated past wild animals on both sides of the river.
This was no trip for the faint hearted but for adventurous people who wish to see the real Namibia it was a dream come true. We met fascinating locals and discovered a way of life for local tribes who maintain a solid family life despite the hardships of poverty mainly brought about by drought & political situations.
As we slept desert elephant’s tiptoed around our 4 x 4 silently leaving only big footprints behind. We had to stop the car often as giraffe & springbok passed in front of us. At the many waterholes in the evening as we sipped our sun-downer all the animals popped down for their evening drink to the flashing bulbs of our cameras. There were cheetahs, lions, elephants, gemsbok, springbok, sable, wildebeest, leopard, rhino & many more.
Many of the game lodges are involved with their native communities teaching them necessary skills for survival in a harsh but stunning environment. The varying colours of the desert varying from muted mauves to gold and vivid reds, sprinkled with the fascinating local people of many different tribes touched our hearts. Thank you Jules it was an unforgettable journey that will stay with us forever. "

We all thoroughly enjoyed our time in Namibia and the self-drive option was just the right compromise between total independence and being on an organised tour. The schedule and driving times for each day was perfect and the choice of accommodation between the nights of camping was also fantastic. We especially enjoyed a township tour in Swakopmund with Hata Angu Cultural tours, including a local dinner and dancing and also the stand-up sand boarding! The "tug" restaurant was fantastic! We took your advice and left sesriem at 05:30 to get to Dune 45 for sunrise, which we saw from the top of the dune! We were totally alone and the experience for both myself and the kids was amazing. So, in summary we thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Chameleon self-drive and would certainly recommend to others.

Just a few lines to tell you that we had a safe trip back to Spain and that we enjoyed a lot our trip through Namibia. I am back to work, and my brain is still in Namibia! Difficult to go back to reality! I would like to thank you again very much for your help you have provided to "build" our trip! I wanted to let you know what a good time we had in Namibia. What a beautiful country. The service we got from Henry at Namibia Car Rental, as well as the places throughout the country was top notch. In fact, our fridge in the trunk broke one day, and Henry had a new one installed (delivered) within three hours if you can believe it. We really loved it.
We absolutely fell in love with the dunes, and Etosha, and Okonjima was an incredible last day.Everything was fantastic. We particularly liked having Okonjima on the last night. What a nice reprieve from camping, and it was one of the highlights because of how nice the people and the accommodations and the activities were.
