Day 1 Vondelhof Guesthouse, Windhoek - 1night bed & breakfast Upon arrival at the Windhoek International (Hosea Kutako) Airport, depending on the car hire company you will either collect your vehicle from the airport or will be transferred into the city where you will then pick the vehicle up and drive to Vondelhof Guesthouse in Windhoek, a small and informal retreat offering highly-personalised service. The guesthouse is centrally located a mere 5 minute walking distance of the city centre with its parks, museums, restaurants and many other attractions. Overnight based in a twin/double room with en-suite facilities on a bed and breakfast basis, all other meals will be at client’s expense.
Day 2 Okonjima Main Camp, for AfriCat Foundation - 1night dinner, bed & breakfast + 1x activity p/p Today drive north to Okonjima, situated just south of Otjiwarongo and around 3 hours from Windhoek, the AfriCat Foundation is based here and is devoted to the conservation of predators, specifically cheetah and leopard with the aim to ease the conflict of interests that arises between humans and carnivores. A large part of their work is in animal welfare – rehabilitating and relocation animals, which have been causing problems in their home territory and providing refuge and veterinary care for injured or orphaned animals. This afternoon you will have close encounters with large predators such as cheetah and leopard and get some excellent photo opportunities. Overnight in the Main Camp, in a twin bedded view room with en-suite facilities on a dinner bed and breakfast basis, one activity included per person. A thatched lapa offers a bar, lounge, and dining area along with the reception and the swimming pool and self guided walks are close by. |

Days 3,4&5 Grootberg Lodge, Northern Damaraland - 3nights dinner, bed & breakfast + rhino & elephant tracking Continue your drive this morning to your lodge in the heart of Damaraland, this is a community-based establishment, where plateaus reach high on skyline and strange plant life dominates the surrounds. Grootberg Lodge is a landmark in Namibia and the tourism industry as it is the first middle-market establishment in the country that is 100% owned by the conservancy, the European Union funded the project through the Ministry of Environment and Tourism's Development Programme with a donation of N$4.5 million to develop the 12-room lodge. The purpose of the lodge is not only to offer a professional service, great surroundings, extremely good food, well-trained guides and exceptionally good local management but, at the same time, to benefit the local community thanks to the revenues generated by the Lodge. Whilst you are here you will have the chance to enjoy rhino tracking as well as join an activity to search for the elusive desert elephant. Overnight in twin share rooms on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis with rhino and elephant tracking activities.
Day 6 Gelbingen Lodge, Kamanjab - 1night dinner, bed & breakfast + Himba visit Your destination today is Gelbingen Lodge in the Kamanjab area, situated in a mountainous valley in the middle of a Mopani tree savannah. A few years ago part of a Himba clan settled on the Farm Gelbingen, these friendly people are closely related to the Herero and speak the same language. They are herdsmen, breeding mainly cattle and goats while leading a semi-nomadic life. For the Himba, clothes, hair and jewellery hold a special meaning and form an important part of their tradition and culture, even newborn babies are adorned with pearl necklaces while older children are given bracelets crafted from copper and decorated with shells, whilst here you will enjoy a visit to the Himba village situated on the farm, which is included in the cost. Overnight is in a twin share room on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis with a Himba visit included. |

Days 7,8&9 Etosha National Park - 3nights bed & breakfast Today you head for Etosha, Namibia’s prime game reserve and spend the next three nights enjoying game drives in this premier park, one of the largest and best reserves in Africa. Etosha is over 22,000 sq kms and home to many species of game including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, hyaena, giraffe as well as antelope including the endemic black faced impala and over 340 species of birds so you should be kept amused. Etosha can be translated to ‘great white place’ and you will have the opportunity to visit the pan and appreciate the vastness of the region. Overnight is in twin standard rooms on a bed and breakfast basis, all other meals will be at client's expense.

Days 10&11 Nunda River Lodge, west Caprivi - 2nights bed & breakfast An early morning for your drive through to Divundu and onto Nunda River Lodge, situated on the banks of the Okavango River that leads into the famous Okavango Delta. This region is more fertile than other areas of Namibia and huge trees offer shade from the scorching sun. Nunda offers fully equipped luxury tents with en-suite facilities and you can enjoy optional activities such as a boat trip or game drive to the nearby Mahango National Park. Here you will have the chance to see buffalo, sable, red lechwe – animals that need plenty of water and aren’t found in parks such as Etosha. Overnight is in a twin/double luxury tent on a bed and breakfast basis, all other meals will be at client’s expense.
Day 12 Namushasha Lodge, east Caprivi - 1night bed & breakfast Your drive takes you across the famous Caprivi Strip, en route keep your eyes open for elephants that may cross the road in the National Park area. The lodge sits on the banks of the Kwando River, opposite Bwabwata Park so you can keep your eyes open for crocodiles and hippos from the wooden deck. You can enjoy a game drive into the nearby Mudumu National Park or if you prefer, take a stroll to a nearby village to meet some of the locals and learn about their traditional way of life. Overnight is in a twin bedded room on a bed and breakfast basis, all other meals will be at client's expense. |

Days 13&14 Chobe Safari Lodge, Kasane, Botswana - 2nights accommodation only Cross the border today into Botswana driving through Chobe National Park to Kasane where you will be based for the next 2 nights. Your lodge will be situated on the river and here you can enjoy optional activities such as a boat cruise or game drive into the park to search for wildlife such as hippo, crocodiles and huge elephant herds, Chobe has one of the largest amounts of elephant to any park in Southern Africa and if you are luck then you can see them bathing and crossing the river. The park is also renowned for great birdlife, many being water birds. The whole region is very different to any of the game parks in Namibia and worth the time spent here. Overnight is in a twin bedded room with en-suite facilities on accommodation only
Days 15&16 Maramba River Lodge, Livingstone, Zambia - 2nights bed & breakfast From Botswana you will leave your vehicle and transfer across the border into Zambia and onto Livingstone. This bustling town is a thriving community and close to the mighty Victoria Falls, certainly worth a visit to appreciate the scale and power of the Falls. Here you can enjoy optional activities such as helicopter and plane flights over the Falls, elephant back riding and for the more adventurous gorge swinging or white water rafting. There are plenty of things to choose from. Overnight is in a luxury tented chalet on a bed and breakfast basis, all other meals will be at client's expense.
Day 17 Flight Transfer to Livingstone Airport and take your onward flight (transfer not included). |
