Horses - are a mix of warmbloods, arabs, Namib desert horses and even some farm horses. There's a variety to suit all levels of riders from confidence giving beginner rides to horses that will keep a more experienced horse rider happy.
Riding equipment - western style saddles are the norm and very comfortable - having spent 7.5 hours in the saddle one day I can vouch for that!
Clothing - bring comfortable long trousers (or jodphurs) as well as a shoe/boot with a small heel. If you have a riding hat then we recommend bringing that along too.
Guides - are knowledgeable, confident and capable riders
THIS RIDING EXPERIENCE CAN ALSO BE COMBINED WITH THE SEARCHING FOR DESERT ELEPHANT RIDE, SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
Note - from Jules, Chameleon Holidays - I have just returned from thoroughly enjoying a 2 night riding trip into the desert and can wholeheartedly recommend the experience. Horses are well trained, equipment is comfortable and in good condition, and the guides friendly and capable. Behind the scenes the organisation went without a hitch with good communication to ensure camps were set up for our arrival and horses well tended to. Meals were delicious and far better than anticipated. Put this together with superb riding conditions, the beauty of the Namibian desert and you're guaranteed to have a fantastic time. I particularly recommend 2 nights in the desert to enjoy the variety of terrain and the full day riding. Ideal for clients wishing to incorporate riding into part of a self drive or guided safari.
