If you are looking to ride a horse across the desert, camp overnight and gaze at the stars while the horses munch on their hay and food nearby is an amazing experience. Perhaps you want to canter through the waves on an Atlantic Ocean beach or go in search of desert elephant on horseback, then look no further than Namibia as there is plenty of options to choose from.
Horse riding trips can be offered as part of your day to day safari for an afternoon, an overnight trip in the desert to sleep under the stars or a more in-depth way of exploring the country and appreciating nature at close quarters. The companies we use offer well trained, happy horses of all sizes and types. Some are well bred Arabians, others may be descendents of the notorious Desert Horses of the Namib from Aus, or they may simply be locally bred horses and purchased from local owners as part of a campaign and part of an agreement under a conservancy. What you can be certain of, is that the horses are well fed, kept and have undergone training to suit all levels of riders. Depending on the ride most rides are limited to a weight allowance of 85-90kg. There is often a surcharge for heavier riders so on long distances another horse can be utilised.
