Situated in a mountainous valley in the middle of a Mopani tree savannah, Gelbingen offers a welcomed oasis in the harsh desert environment that is Damaraland. While enjoying their hospitality you can easily explore the Etosha National Park, Damaraland and Kaokoland.
Five years ago part of a Himba clan settled on the Farm Gelbingen. Although it was a difficult in the beginning as two worlds clashed, they somehow found a way to live together in complete harmony, the Himbas in their traditional ("stone aged") way, and the lodge in their European manner. The Himbas have since settled and continue their lives as they know.
The lodge itself offers just 9 rooms, so you won't be overwhelmed with hordes of tourists, instead; relax and enjoy the personal service on offer by the lodge staff.
