Day 2 After a delicious breakfast we mount up and head out into the hills. From here you ride up into the magnificent mountains, the vistas are stunning and your ride will take you across grassy plains, up steep mountain slopes with views over the distant city of Windhoek, through dry river beds and gorges (after the rainy season crystal clear streams run through these otherwise typically dry river beds). As you enter Heja Game Reserve you can keep your eyes open for some of the game found here including springbok, wildebeest, red hartebeest, warthog, kudu, steenbok and the smallest antelope of them all - the Damara dikdik. You'll arrive at the lodge in time for a late lunch and this afternoon have the choice of relaxing by the pool or maybe taking an optional game drive on the reserve to see some of the plentiful species and maybe an elusive hyaena or leopard. This evening you'll be based in self catering accommodation and a delicious braai will be prepared as you sit around the fire, enjoying the night sky and toasting the day’s experience. Today’s riding is approx 6 hours (BLD)
