The ranch is lies in the Southern Kalahari and is characterised by the famous red dunes on which the lodge is perched. This stunning location, coupled with friendly Namibian hospitality and a traditional ranch feel offers unforgettable memories for the discerning traveller.
The design, materials and furnishings, gardens and natural settings, all combine to create the feeling of being fully part of the surrounding environment. The rambling old farmhouse was extensively altered, upgraded and renovated to not only serve as a residence, but also as the main nerve centre of the Lodge.
An entrance hall leads to the reception, lounge, dining room, bar & cellar, library and office. There is a swimming pool and recreation area with a pool table and hammock for lazy afternoons in the desert.
Although two styles of chalets are provided, both have the same standard of luxury and finished quality. There are four dune chalets, constructed of wood and on stilts are built on top of a Kalahari sand dune, with unsurpassed views to the Southwest. The other six strohbale chalets are built in the street or valley between the dunes. These chalets are built of ‘hay bales’ with walls 600mm thick, the insulation and atmosphere are equally effective and tranquil. The main difference between the two styles of chalets besides the construction method, is the fact that the dune chalets have a bath and shower, while the ‘hay bale’ chalets only have a shower. The standard and quality of finish is the same for all the chalets, with exquisite décor and equipped to exceed your expectations.
There are also 4 garden court rooms, these are located at the main building and set amongst a lush garden and close to the pool.
In addition to the chalets/rooms, there are five private campsites. Each campsite has it's own abultion block, clean and with hot water, as well as solar lighting. An ideal location to relax around the fire and enjoy a night under the spectacular African sky. |
