| Green Desert - Okavango Delta, Chobe and Vic Falls - 8 days |
|
To many, the Okavango Delta is one of the many reasons to visit Southern Africa and Botswana. The Delta is slap bang in the centre of Southern Africa’s driest and flattest arid region, and the water of the Okavango River travels southeast for five months across hundreds of kilometres.. Starting in the Angolan highlands in summer, the water is then squeezed through geological fault lines near the Caprivi Strip, then spreads out across 20 000 square kilometres, a huge fan of surface water seeping into the red detritus of the Kalahari Desert to form this amazing ecosystem. The Delta attracts many species of game, birds as well of course, the two legged homosapien. This trip takes you into the heart of the Delta visiting two camps and then onwards to the infamous Chobe National Park. Here, hundreds of head of game congregate and move through the park, crossing rivers and living off the rich lands. Huge herds of elephant, buffalo and other water dependent game are to be found and an up close experience on a boat to these is a must! To top off your trip you are then transferred to Victoria Falls for your final nights to appreciate the wonder of these mighty falls.
